I'm Mark's wife and want to post a review; maybe it will help you too. We've noticed for a long time a soft boom when the A/C would start up and you could hear it in 3 different rooms. And, sometimes the overhead LED lighting would have a momentary split second dimming and then switch back to normal. I was worried that something was going to happen or "rip apart" in the A/C so we called ARC for an appointment. (This is the second time we've utilized their services.) He inspected the unit, found a wire that was becoming damaged, but also we learned that the "start-up" was pulling almost 100 amps. Maybe that's why the lights would sometimes do that split second dimming (because we have lights on in several rooms, TVs running, refrigerator, etc.) and it's pushing the limit on power. He offered a couple of suggestions which we agreed to (compressor start assist and replace high voltage contactor relay) and we can't believe the difference. Now no more noise (no more "boom") when the A/C starts up; and, no more lights dimming. I know manufacturers are always competing against each other and maybe that is why this extra component wasn't part of the unit but things like this can cause problems down the road. This change will probably extend the life of our A/C and it's definitely more quiet when the A/C turns on. (And discovery of damaged wiring really makes me realize that annual checkups are a lot less expensive that replacing the entire Air Conditioner just because it wasn't inspected.) And again, we want to say we highly recommend this company. Vitaliy is extemely knowledgeable and always does a great job.
Feel fortunate to have found ARC and Vitaliy. I received a surprisingly high replacement cost for my Lennox thermostat from the original installer. Vitaliy was transparent about the cost of the product and his labor which was a much fairer price. He is very professional and excellent about explaining pros and cons in helping to chose the best product. When I made that decision, he was able to order, pick up the new thermostat, and installed it the very next day.
